Speaker of the House László Kövér fined Ákos Hadházy seven million forints because the independent MP disrupted Viktor Orbán's parliamentary speech on February 24. Hadházy's post reveals that he received the fine not only because he played an older speech by Orbán about freedom, but also because he regularly calls parliament an illegitimate puppet theater, where he has not officially spoken since 2022.
Hadházy interrupted Viktor Orbán's speech before the agenda at the end of February, which was omitted from the broadcast but was included in the minutes. Hadházy played Orbán's statement from 18 years ago over a loudspeaker, where he spoke about the importance of Western democracy.
Orbán's speech at that time is the polar opposite of everything that today's Fidesz represents politically. In that speech, Orbán, among other things, told the youth of the future not to let the Russians climb back through the window, who have already been distracted, and not to allow the establishment of a multi-party system without democracy. In comparison, the current Hungarian government is the most vocal ally of the war aggressor Russia within the European Union.
According to Hadházy, Speaker Kövér was already "grubbing under his breath" that the MP would regret this, and so it happened: he imposed many times the previous penalties on his former party colleague. Interestingly, Kövér also accused Hadházy of not having used the opportunity to make regular comments in parliament since 2022, which he is not alone in, for example, party director Gábor Kubatov has not spoken at all in this term.
Incidentally, Ákos Hadházy was recently interviewed on Telex, in which he spoke, among other things, about how he believes the opposition only has a few months to fight for a chance at clean elections in 2026.
