NATO ships are planning to protect critical underwater facilities in the Baltic. In total, about ten ships will be involved.
According to Yle, the operation will begin at the end of the week and will last until April.
In the Gulf of Finland, the guard will be carried out mainly by ships from Finland and Estonia. Ships from other countries will be stationed in the Baltic Sea near energy and information cables. Their presence will serve as a deterrent. On December 30, NATO decided to strengthen its presence in the Baltic Sea. Finland and Estonia also asked NATO for support.
