Yeah but look at the clouds Atleast from my place they look like rain clouds and I'm no prophet - I'm just being realistic It's been raining quite a lot in Vilnius recently, but of course it doesn't mean that Wednesday can't be a sunny day, but as they say there is no shame being careful.

here is CNN Vilnius weather forecast, now it seems Wednesday is going to be a nice day but as I said before CNN forecasts are not always accurate and they oftenly change even tomorrow's forecast. Anyway I hope they will be right this time http://weather.edition.cnn.com/weather/intl/forecast.jsp?locCode=UVIL

OK, and thanks for the weather page and the warning! I've got a good raincoat with a hood. I really don't like umbrellas a whole lot ... they are a burden the second you close them, they are poky and bulky, plus one tends to forget them.
After a brief, strong rain it's very lovely here in Göttingen at the moment.
Let's just hope for the best, weatherwise, for next week!
I'm sooOOO looking forward to my trip and getting to meet you all!Originally Posted by

Perhaps I'm not in a very good shape to make a comprahensive description how it went but it was greeeeeeeat!!! I'm so happy Doris came to Vilnius!
We met at 7p.m. near the Scandic hotel, in fact it was a bit away from the hotel, Doris recognized me
Then we waited for singing tram and ozelis to join us (for about an hour!) having some beer at the hotel. After ST and ozelis joined us, we had some more beer and went to the old town towards Tores (you remember it from our meet-up in March) in Uzupis where we had some more beer it Tores Terace, then it was getting late and quite cold, so we decided to go to the Tores "Vyno rusys" where we watched Portugal vs. Holland
Portugal won (I was rooting for Holland though). It was a great evening!

Hi, you dear and wonderful guys!
Thank you enormously for your warm welcome and for showing me sucha GREAT and WONDERFUL time in Vilnius and beyond!
You were delightful hosts, and it was just incredible to get to meet so many of you in person. I loved seeing you, and getting to know the beautiful city where you live.
I'm just saying this much for now.Originally Posted by

Yes, we can always hope for next year, blitz.
The same goes for Edd and buozgalvis, who were out of town on vacation, and of course for Mantaz!
I was lucky I got to see Ozelis just before he left for his big trip to SE Asia on the evening of my arrival. This morning I had a brief and wet encounter with Vaidas, who had just gotten back from Switzerland, and boogy finally caught up with us. John was present every step of the way, a kind and thoughtful guide.
Yesterday John and I walked all over creation: old town, new town, bridges, churches, parks, and of course Gediminas Castle. In the evening John, singing tram, and I got taken for a beautiful ride through the Lithuanian countryside by Jeffas, who came from Kaunas to see us. He took us to visit the Castle of Trakai in the evening sun, what a treat!
We sat across the lake from the castle, drank beer, had some supper, watched the sun set and the lights come on at the castle and the bridge, had some more beer, and watched the last sailboats tie up after dark. What a perfect evening!
We ended it with another round of beers at the Skybar of the Lietuva Hotel, chatting merrily until they threw us out at closing time.
It was just great to see all the many places and buildings and streets and churches and monuments live after having seen so many pictures of them! And it was equally great to meet so many fine Lithuanian forumers!
I am really happy that I decided to go on this trip, and I thank you all for making it such a special experience for me.Originally Posted by

Nice to hear news from you, WH, I'm gald you successfully came back to Hamburg (was your trip good btw?). And another thing, we were very happy with the weather. On Wednesday it was quite ok (except it became quite cold at night, but it was not raining). And yesterday we got just perfect weather and beautiful evening (I'm not describing it since WH did it perfectly ) because the whole last few weeks the weather was really dreadful and so became today again (althogh right now it's kinda beautiful sunset with redish clouds).
Now in short what we did and what we saw in those 3 days
Wednesday
WH and John met next to Scandic hotel at 7p.m., singing tram and ozelis were late and joined us a bit later, we had some beer and decided to go to Tores restaurant, before that we took a short walk around the old town (Pilies street, Didzioji street, Uzupio street) it was a nice view to the old town from the terace. Then went to the restaurant ceiling (Vyno Rusys) where watched football game between Portugal and Holland on a big screen. After the mach was over we took a taxi and all went to our locations (it was at about midnight).
Thursday
WH and John met at the same location in the morning and it was a walking day - we walked around the old town to the churches, most interesting buildings, courtyards, Vilnius University campus etc. There were lots of things to see and we saw as much as it's possible to do in one day. In the evening at about 7p.m singing tram joined us and then an hour later we met Jeffas next to the White Bridge. Jeffas was with a car and took us to Trakai (we shortly stopped at an abandoned manor house in Traku Voke). And after we were in Trakai we took a walk around the castle after what we went to a nice cafe and had a nice dinner and beer, we decided not to watch football since it was a really beautiful sunset.
Just before midnight we went back to Vilnius where we stayed at SkyBar for a short while, the view was really nice with all the stuff lit up at night seen from above. After that Jeffas took all of us to our locations
it was a very busy, long and nice day!
Jeffai, BIG thanks goes to you! We had such a nice eveniong and a trip to Trakai, it was really nice from you to take us there and back with your car
Friday
the weather turned to be dreadful but despite that we met at Scandinc hotel at 10.30, shortly Vaidas joined us and we took the last walk around Gediminas Avenue. A bit lter boogy joined us and we went to a cafe to have som pizzas and beer. Then WH had to go since her flight was at 12.50. And that was the end ouf grand meetup with WH.
Now I'd like to say a very BIG thanks to WH for all the beer and stuff at all the pubs and places we visited, I really appreciate that
and thanks, WH, taht you came to our town, I hope you're bringing back good impressions
