[Slovakia] Rain and sun in Košice

Last week I spent some days in Bratislava, Eastern Slovakia and Hungary.
One of the most interesting places I saw was Slovakia's second town, the not so well known Košice, which is actually a very pleasant town.
I spent there a couple of nights, while doing some day trips as well, so I don't have tons of pictures, and most of them are from the first day when the weather was really awful, but I hope you can enjoy them anyway!

    DAY 1: the rain!

    DAY 2: the sun!

It is dark but it gets all nice and sunny in the end .

The view from ther church is amazing http://www.upupa.net/sky/kosice/IMG_8074.jpg.
Glad you enjoyed the town and thanks for sharing the photos Karletas.

Thank you Karletas for this virtual trip. Košice looks really beautiful and it's the first time when I see photos from there.

It really is beautiful, even if the old town is really little, mainly this long square you see from the Cathedral's tower and some little streets around before the commieblocks start! Anyway surely it's very nice and there's a good atmosphere, many good pubs, incredibly cheap and good beer and very very nice people, I really had a very good time there, pity it's not so easy to reach by low-cost flight as Bratislava (which is pretty as well, but more touristic and "westernized").

Thanks, Carletto, for lovely photos. I've been a number of times in Slovakia and its many towns, but never to Košice. It looks like an atmopsheric old town typical of Central Europe (esp. its more Eastern part).

I also liked very much the places like Bardejov, Banska Stiavnica and Banska Bystrica. All have quite small, but rich old towns And not too "westernernized"

Thanks for the photos, very interesting.
The commieblock suburb in the background of this photo is very impressive, so huge and grey:

Yeah, that commieblock suburb is the biggest there in Košice, I saw it quite well coming with the bus from Prešov (and then again going and coming back from Bardejov). I was living in another commieblock district on the opposite hill. Košice is all surrounded by hills and on most of them there are commies.

Since I know you all like them (), here it's a little example of "mine" commieblock district, at a romantic sunset!

Thank you all for the compliments!
