Time to add what's planned new in Riga:
1. Quartal near Ice Arena - those weird buildings are 12 floors high. Place for quartal has been prepared but I don't know when it will start. Architect "F.L. Tadao & Lukševics".

2. "Skaistie skati" - two united apartment highrises in Lucavsala, first highrises there. Sorry for quality. Public hearing on-going, they want to start construction next spring. Architekt "Arhitektonika"

3. Three 26-floorers in Plavnieki, apartments. Architect - "Z4". Approval on-going.

4. 85-meters high all-year skiing track with 25-floor hotel under it, Jurmala. I don't believe that this 200 mio EUR project will happen - but currently they are pushing for it. Website - www.kapa.lv

5. Multifunctional quartal near Panorama Plaza - concept. Up to 17 floors


6. Municipal housing district "Dreilini-2", architect - "Arhitektonika". 8 12-floorers.


7. "Daugava Green City" project has been revived, public hearings on-going now. Up to 37 floors high. To be located at Daugava, in Kengarags. No individual design for separate buildings yet.

8. 16-floor apartment on corner of Hanzas and Skanstes Streets. Much discussed if there is needed such a high building. Architect "Nams"


9. District on Zvirgzdusala, close to Island bridge. Old project, but it is developing. Architect - Ventis Didrihsons.

10. Quartal in front of this Zvirgzdusala development, architect "Sarma&Norde"


11. "Hanner" quartal near VEF - here has worked Lithuanian architect (I think, "Archidea"):


12. Better render of G. Schaller's "Valdemara parks". They got full approval recently but no activity started.


13. Hotel near Central Railway Station. Approved but also not started yet.

14. 24-floor "Symbiotic tower" - planned neighbor to Saules akmens. Architect G. Schaller

15. 3rd "Solaris" - now 30 floors high. Early approval. "Silis, Zabers&Klava"

16. "Magdelenas nami" district, architect Gatis Didrihsons. In Centrum. Public hearing on-going, demolition works started.



17. Riga Airport extension, shall start in few month time. This will bring capacity to 5 mio passengers per year. Architect - "Arhis".

Let's hope that this won't happen and hanner and vpm will construct only minor buildings in Riga. It seems that we must "import" the architecture of Riga.

Lately am not in such a high opinion about architecture here... No, architecture is good - but investors at the end cut the prices down exactly on the architecture.

Some new thingies since last November. Lots of them – I must say. It is beyond the wildest dreams that Riga can build all of this:
