Parašė Nikas Rodyti pranešimąTruly, city is quite interesting, but all of the city except old town is messy. Parks, underground passages etc stinks and are full of drunk people, who sleeps everywhere. Absolutely no police, stations are really dangerous even at day time.

Warsaw prepares to start second metro line dig

Construction work on the second line of Warsaw’s metro system, travelling west to east, is to begin this week.
The line will stretch from the Ronda Daszyńskiego roundabout, to the west of the city centre, to Wileński train station in the Praga District on the east bank of the River Vistula. The initial phase of preparation will be followed by drilling work carried out in stages from mid-September, which will mean traffic disruptions for Warsaw motorists.
The investment will be over 1bln euro.
The first north to south section of the metro was first opened in 1995 though only completed to its full length in 2008.

Parašė JohnThis is good news for Warsaw. I wish Vilnius was quicker with deciding on the future of its transport. It seems Warsaw authorities understand the importance of good transport in order to improve city's competitiveness.

Sometimes it takes time - in case of Warsaw it took much more then anyone expected. Remember that the construction of first metro line took over 20 years and the first plans to const a metro network were ready before the IIWW.
Fortunately the central part of 2 line should be constructed by 2013-2014.

Renovation of Prudencial prewar skyscraper just started
Prudential is a Warsaw skyscraper built between 1931 and 1934 in the Art Deco style as the base for British Prudential Insurance. It is located on Warsaw Uprising Square along ulica Świętokrzyska (Holy Cross Street).
At the time of construction it was the second tallest European skyscraper with eighteen stories. Built using a steel framework it was the tallest building in Warsaw until the Palace of Culture and Science was constructed. The Prudential was heavily damaged during the World War II, particularly during the Warsaw Uprising when it was hit by approximately 1,000 missiles leaving only the steel framework..
The building was rebuilt after the war as a hotel, and its style was changed from early modern to neo-classical.
