Regarding nr of football fans during the games of Polish ekstraklasa, the situation with the stadiums is as follows :
Lech Poznan stadium - officiall opened on 20 sep 2010
(capacity : 43 098) - during the most important games the stadium is full :
Wisla Krakow stadium - stadium capacity is 24 249 at the moment (until May 2011 it was 18 000), in near future the last stand should be opened and the capacity will increase to over 30 000.
you can see that one stand is still not opened for the fans :
Legia Warszawa stadium - the last stand of the stadium was opened on May 2011 - before the capacity was around 20 000, now it's 31 103.
Nr of fans during Legia games is usually high:
Slask Wroclaw - so far they played on small stadium with capacity of 8 346.
In this season they will play on new one - hard to say if they'll be able to fill the stadium. The future capacity will be 42,771.
The biggest problem with filling the stadium will be in Gdansk in my opinion.
Currently they are playing on old stadium (capacity: 11 811), in near future they will have to fill the 44,000 stadium.
On the other hand they've already sold the stadium name for 35 mln PLN (for 5 year period) which covers the stadium operating costs for the next few years.
Warsaw National stadium - besides national football team, Polonia Warszawa or Legia can play some most important games here (specially Polonia Warszawa). The stadium however will be mostly utilized during number of other events - concerts etc, as well as other kinds of sports.
other modern stadiums :
Cracovia - stadium officially opened at the end of Sep 2010. Capacity : 15 016. The team has big number of fans in Krakow - it's one of the oldest clubs in Poland.
Zaglebie Lubin - for some it may seem that it's a little too big stadium for such a small city (note it's Lubin not Lublin) , on the other hand they attract fans from whole region, they have huge support of KGHM - one of the biggest companies in Poland and in general the region (due to Copper mining) is relatively wealthy.
Korona Kielce - the number of fans during the games is closely connected with the football level that Korona demonstrates
Kielce stadium was the first modern football stadium in Poland, opened a few years ago. Current capacity: 15 500.
Arka Gdynia - will not play in ekstraklasa next season, but Polish '1-sza Liga' (in fact second league, although it's called first ).
The new stadium was officially opened in Feb 2011, and the number of fans during games varied.
Capacity : 15 139
Ruch Chorzów - football club with very long tradition. Currently plays on old stadium (capacity: 10 000) -
waiting for new ground (future capacity: 55,211, it will be also major athletics stadium in Poland), which is under constrution but it's facing some difficulties (as you can see on second picture) :
Jagiellonia Bialystok - new stadium for around 20 000 people is under construction - temporarly the construction was stoped due to problems with general contractor.
Gornik Zabrze - one of the most important football clubs in Polish history. Waiting for the construction of the new stadium (future capacity around 30 000) - should start this year or at the begining of next.
Widzew Lodz - playing on old stadium (capacity: around 10 000, needs new one.
Piast Gliwice - similar like in case of Arka, Piast will not play in Polish ekstraklasa next season, but is opening new stadium :
BTW - stadiums will not only be used for football - here are some examples :
Orange festival - Legia Warszawa stadium :
Boxing fight - Wroclaw stadium - over 30 000 tickets already sold
Red Bull X fighter - Poznan stadium
----
article from last year :
Average attendance of 10 461 fans per stadium and the total number of 83 690 spectators saw the games from the stands during the 11th matchday of the Ekstraklasa. This is official data from the delegates reports. Future for growing attendance is very promising because very soon more modern stadiums will be opened.
New stadiums of Lech, Wisla, Legia, Cracovia, Korona and Zaglebie and in the short term new modern objects will be ready at Gdynia, Gdansk, Wroclaw and Bialystok - this is a great impact for the league. Attendance on the stadiums will grow constantly.
It is worth reminding that during the previous season (2009/2010) - when many stadiums were modernized or rebuilt and some clubs were forced to play outside their home stadium or with a limited number of seats for supporters - the average attendance at the game was 5 020 spectators.
Now - after eleven matchdays of the season 2010/2011 we have an average attendance of 8 001 spectators. This is an increase of 62.7 percent! Last weekend we boost an absolute record - an average of 10 461 spectators on the stadium during Ekstraklasa games.
RED BULL X-FIGHTERS WORLD TOUR WILL LAND IN POZNAN!
POZNAN, CITY STADIUM, 6TH OF AUGUST 2011
The Red Bull X-Fighters stop in Poland had to change its location and will now take place on the 6th of August at the City Stadium in Poznan. It will be the fifth stop of this year's world tour, which originally was supposed to be held at the National stadium in Warsaw .
The decision about changing the venue for Red Bull X-Fighters is a result of the construction delays at the National Stadium in Warsaw. Construction of the stadium was due to conclude by the end of June, but unfortunately the venue won't be ready for hosting the event on the scheduled date. Red Bull X-Fighters was supposed to be the first sports event at the National Stadium right before the official inaugural ceremony.
The new location for the Polish stop of Red Bull X-Fighters is the City Stadium in Poznan – the first venue ready for the EURO 2012. The Poznan arena with its 43 000 seats is as great and as spectacular as the original location and will present its capability of welcoming a massive crowd and hosting a world-class competition on the 6th of August.
The Red Bull X-Fighters World Tour will stop in Poland for the second time after 2008 as it was the big sports farewell to the Stadion X-Lecia in Warsaw. It will be the second to last stop of the world's most important international freestyle motocross (FMX) series.
RB X Figters 2011 in Spain, Madrid, hope that in Poznań won`t be worse :-) :
75 00 people have visited Warsaw National Stadium on todays open day for visitors:
I visited the stadium today - fenomenal arena visibility perfect - watching boxing fight or basketball game wouldn't be any problem, seats are extremly comfortable and the roof just magnificent
You can change your car, you can change your house, you can change your Wetherspoon, you can change your wife or religion, even you can change your sex. But you can never change the team you support...
